Ride Ready Classes a Success!
Last week, BikeVentura hosted its first two day Ride Ready class, taught by our executive director, Joey Juhasz-Lukomski. The first day was comprised of in-shop instruction on basic bicycle maintenance, including the all important Fix-A-Flat tutorial (as pictured above).
The second class, held on a beautiful Saturday morning, found participants outside, on their bikes, learning how to ride safely on the streets. Joey’s instruction included such maneuvers as how to make an emergency stop and how to safely avoid obstacles in the road. The class ended with an exciting ride around downtown Ventura to put into practice our participants sharp cycling skills. Upon completion of the class, our Board Chairperson, John Buccola, shared “I wasn’t sure I would learn anything new, but not only did I pick up new skills, I learned some of my current riding habits needed to be corrected!”
Whether you’ve been riding for years or just getting started, these classes will certainly be of benefit to all cyclists.
The curriculum for the classes is provided by the League of American Bicyclists and Joey is a certified trainer. We plan to host these FREE classes every other month, so stay tuned for upcoming November classes!
Thank you to all who came out to learn with us. We hope you had as much fun as we did!
