What Is A Bike Rodeo? – A Bike Rodeo is a fun, active event for elementary students to learn about biking and develop safety skills in a safe and comfortable environment. All will learn important skills necessary to
put on a helmet correctly and have a chance to ride a bike or scooter. They will learn the basic fundamentals or practice more skills in various agility courses on open blacktop.
Participants: Kindergarten through 4th grade students, all students are welcome to participate. First time riders (or learners) will have an opportunity to learn to ride with help of an instructor. Students should bring their own helmet to the Bike Rodeo.
What will we do at the Bike Rodeo?
We will have multiple stations with different fun activities the kids can participate in regardless of their skill level. They will learn basic safety hand signals, ride skill development course, basic bike check station and a fun bike decoration station
Bike Skills:
• Practicing scanning and signaling. (older students) • Learning to ride unassisted
• Left and right turns
• Stopping at intersections
• Object avoidance maneuvers
• Riding in a group
• Learning to start and stop on a bike
