BikeVentura (BikeVC) is excited to announce a new partnership with the Oxnard School District (OSD) to bring our hands-on bicycle education programs directly to students at after-school programs. Starting this year, BikeVC’s education team has been contracted to deliver engaging, skill-building bike workshops at 20 Oxnard elementary and middle schools (K-8). These sessions focus on bike safety, basic mechanics, maintenance, and the joy of cycling, thus empowering kids with practical life skills while promoting healthy, active lifestyles.
It’s been an incredible experience so far. One of the most memorable moments came during a session at Fremont Elementary. Sergio Garcia, BikeVC Educational Coordinator reports, “I was wow’ed at how skilled and mechanically talented the 4th-grade girls at Fremont were, demonstrating how to disassemble a bicycle and change flat tires with such confidence and precision. They confidently disassembled bikes, changed flat tires, and troubleshot issues like pros, showing real enthusiasm and quick learning.”
