BikeVentura is honored to announce that we have been awarded a generous $20,000 grant from the S. Mark Taper Foundation. With these funds, we will write our first mulit-year strategic plan, expand HUB services in the county, and continue to foster healthy communities through bicycle advocacy, education and empowerment.
Founded in 1989, the S. Mark Taper Foundation is a private family foundation dedicated to enhancing the quality of people’s lives by supporting nonprofit organizations and their work in our communities. This is the first time BikeVentura has been awarded a grant from the S. Mark Taper Foundation, and we are extremely grateful to have their trust and support.
Our HUB program impacts a broad spectrum of lives, and has seen more and more demand for its services over the last three years. To meet that demand, our HUB program must grow too, through expanding services in a couple ways: to open for more hours at the existing HUB, and to open more HUBs around the county. Our sights are currently set on opening a HUB in downtown Oxnard, and we hope to share some exciting news about that soon.
BikeVentura also needs to write a strategic plan. This document will guide us through the next few years, so that we are (literally) all on the same page when we have to make choices about what to do. We have collected community input, and will meet regularly with the staff and board to produce a plan that is comprehensive and inspiring. It will not only guide our work toward our mission, it will also set goals about what kind of organization we want to be. Spoiler alert: we want to be a great place to work, and a model nonprofit that is inclusive.
Thank you, S. Mark Taper Foundation, for your generous award!
