Filling in a missing piece of bike path in Ventura

Cabrillo Village Multi-Use Path Location, between S. Saticoy Ave. and Pyramid Ave, on the north bank of the Santa Clara River

On 3/24/25 City of Ventura held a groundbreaking for the 0.3 mi multi-use path going in on the North Bank of the Santa Clara River along Cabrillo Village.  “Riders in the East Side of Ventura deal with too many bike path dead ends and want more continuity and longer distances to ride,” explained Nina Danza, a long time advocate of the project, “and this segment helps extend the  ride in an important area.”
BikeVentura, as well as Friends of the Santa Clara River, Sierra Club, and Cabrillo Village gave written and financial support to the project years ago.  Three colorful signs about the River water resources, the wildlife and the history of Cabrillo Village were designed and paid for by the non-profits and will be installed on the path.

Attendees (l to r): CIBC, Friends of the Santa Clara River (Diana Rodriguez), BVC (Larry Abele), Sierra Club (Julie Henszey), Cabrillo Village (Ralph Martinez), Cabrillo Village (Ignacio Rodriguez Jr.), BVC (Nina Danza)

“Path users don’t realize they are riding next to the Santa Clara River and the valuable natural resources right in front of them,” Nina continues, “and especially that Cabrillo Village was the site of a historic farmworker rights victory in the 1970s.”
Construction should be completed by early June 2025. Come out and give it a test drive!
