Blog, What's Happening|

The Thomas fire came within blocks of our new location at 490 N. Ventura Ave. While it looked like we might lose our space before we even had a chance to open our doors, the fire was halted and the building pulled through.

But others weren’t as lucky, and we saw an outpouring of help coming from Venturans. We wanted to show our thanks to those that were giving, so we offered a free one-year BikeVentura membership to anyone that donated $50 or more to The United Way of Ventura County. We didn’t really know what to expect, but within two days, we saw $650 come in. 100% of these contributions will be given directly to the United Way, and BikeVentura welcomes eight new members!

The fire still burns, and relief and recovery are far from over. This offer stands through the end of 2017, so if you haven’t donated to fire relief, consider doing so through our website and select the fund “Thomas Fire Relief.”

Also, when the smoke clears, we anticipate that there will be families looking to replace bikes lost in the fire. We’re officially open at our new location, and we’re accepting bike donations during open hours, so stop by if you’re looking for other ways to help fire relief, and help BikeVentura continue to serve this #VenturaStrong community.
